What an incredible winter it has been thus far! I absolutely love this transitional phase from winter to spring where anything is possible. With the correct wind and tides, I have had a few banner days this month where we've caught just about everything that swims in the backcountry. Typically I'm starting the morning off by leaving the dock of the Worldwide Sportsman around 7am in search of reds, snook, trout, black drum, or tarpon. Then, depending on how that goes, I sometimes get an itch to s...

Happy friday fish fans! It has been a bit windy here in Islamorada the past week, but that hasn't kept me stuck at the dock! With a big influx in snow birds looking to go fishing in the less than favorable conditions, the fishing guides of the Florida Keys need to know how to find fish in even the worst conditions, and with my 22 Pathfinder Tournament bayboat, there's always an option of where to go even when it's blowing.

Conditions the last several days have been 20-30mph winds in a westerly d...

Over the last 4 days I've been crushing the snook and redfish! Not only that, but the trout are really starting to pack on their spring time weight as well. I haven't been catching huge numbers of trout, but the ones coming boat-side have been lunkers! This would be the perfect time of year to bring the family down to Islamorada and get on constant action. One day we must've caught 40 snook and over 100 redfish! I don't know the exact numbers because we lost count early on in the morning.

Happy Holidays fishy people! I hope everyone enjoyed a serving or 10 of tasty food and post-season football! While life up north is consumed with a harsh winter of shoveling snow and defrosting car windows, the Florida Keys has been nothing but blue skies and fair weather in the backcountry the last several weeks. Most days I've been spending my time fishing for Spanish Mackerel, Snappers, Cobias, Sharks, and Goliath Groupers. This is a unique fishery we have during this time of year as a whole...

Heyyy Fishy People! It's time for another VERY juicy fishing report from Islamorada! As we settle into this cooler weather the tarpon have moved out, but massive schools of redfish, snook, black drum, and trout have moved in. I have never seen so many juvenile snook and redfish in my 20+ years of fishing the everglades! It's so exciting to see the back country come alive during this time of the year.

I've been getting out around 2-3 times a week and fishing has been so good we've lost count of h...

As we settle into the heat of summer time and lobster season, many people forget about the amazing snapper spawn and back country fishing Islamorada has to offer. What I love most about the summer is that in the morning we're chasing large numbers of snook, redfish, and tarpon in the back country, then have the ability to change gears and go on a dinner hunt for tasty lobsters and snappers in the afternoon. My 22 foot pathfinder bay boat allows me the ability to fish comfortably just about every...

Hey Fishy people! Captain Drew here ready to give you the scoop on the fishing down in sunny Islamorada! The weather has been great with just enough wind to stir things up and make us stealthy to the fish, but not too windy to blow us off the water. Last week we had the full moon to go along with lobster season so that made it tough for the tarpon fishermen. However, the snook and trout are showing back up in very good numbers and some good ones too! There have been solid bait pods along the bea...

That's what it's been like here in Islamorada. The fishing has been spectacular with all this rain we've had supplemented with variable winds (just windy enough to where the fish don't hear you as well, but calm enough to keep them high and happy). I had a trip last week where we went into Everglades National Park to catch some mangrove snappers for dinner, then headed out further towards flamingo and caught 6 bonefish on artificial! Next day, 120 pound tarpon! Day after that, same thing! Meanwh...

Hey fishy people! This is captain Drew with a juicy report for you on how fishing has been here in the fabulous Florida Keys. As we work our way into the summer swing of things, there's several different species of fish that are best to target this time of year. With the yellowtail and mutton snapper spawn going on and grouper season in full swing, the reef has been red hot! It's not uncommon to come back with a bucket full of tasty snappers and grouper for some good ole fish sandwiches we all l...
