Hey everybody! Its Captain Drew of Fishy Business Charters, back with another Islamorada Fishing Report! Fishing has been great lately, and it's nice to see things follow suit as they should this time of the year.

We had a fantastic August, catching tons of really nice snappers, snook, and tripletails around Flamingo. On my half days we stuck close and stayed on a very consistent early morning tarpon bite on fish anywhere from the 10-80lb range. The early bird gets the worm in that case, so if yo...

Hey y'all! It's Captain Drew Nobregas of Fishy Business charters with an updated fishing report about what's going on in the Keys. It truly is a special time of year for us as the backcountry is alive with all the great tarpon snook, bonefish, permit, trout and redfishing you can handle! Hence why I call June the month of the super slam! This is the most possible time to catch all 5 highest targeted species in Islamorada all in one day's fishing. Not only that, but the big snappers are spawning...

First off, I hope everyone is taking the correct precautionary steps to quarantine so that we can get back to normal daily life as soon as possible. Although I have not been able to do charters, I've been very blessed in being able to still get out of the house and go fishing. With less boating and fishing pressure, the Florida Keys has been incredibly alive with marine life. Dolphins are happily chasing big schools of mullet, sailfish are tailing down the edges of the reef, tarpon are rolling a...

Hey everybody! I'd like to inform all guests about what's going on in the Florida Keys with respect to COVID-19. As of Sunday, the Florida Keys has shut down all hotels, Airbnb's, and most of the businesses due to the possibility of prolonging the spread of the virus. All residents have been informed to stay at home or anywhere that limits contact with people so that this situation can digress.

The time in which visitors can be let back into the Keys is at a to-be-determined date. However, I wil...

Hey everybody! it's Captain Drew Nobregas of Fishy Business Charters with another Islamorada Fishing report! A consistently chilly breeze of northwest wind has brought us some fantastic fishing this week and I can't wait to tell you all about it!

In the backcountry, Florida bay has been holding some dandy snook close to home around just about all of the islands surrounding Islamorada. Not only that, but we've had a decent pick at some 12-16 inch mangrove snappers as well. It's nice that we've had...

Hey everybody! It’s Captain Drew Nobregas with another Islamorada Fishing
Report. Very unpredictable weather has led me to cancel a few trips but there were several days in the past few weeks where we did get some time to fish.

I ran two trips last week and two trips this week which were all filled with steady action and a
smorgasbord of different fish. My trip last Monday was incredible despite the heavy
winds. We ran back into the Everglades National Park in search of snook and redfish

Hey Everybody! It’s Captain Drew Nobregas with another Islamorada Fishing Report! Lately we’ve had some picturesque Florida Keys weather with variable winds and the most vibrantly orange sunsets that seem to melt below the water line. To go along with it, the sunny 75 degree temperatures have kept most of my cold weather clothing in storage. I had two charters in the backcountry this week and went out offshore with some friends once as well. Bait was plentiful and the fish were active to say the...

Hey everyone! It's Captain Drew here again with another very, juicy Islamorada fishing report. The weather and fishing both seem to be following suit with one another this time of year. Although we've been battling lots of rain and wind, the fish are cooperating when it's suitable to get out on the water. There have been tons of finger mullet and pilchards around which have brought in with them huge numbers of snook and tarpon. Small tarpon happen to be one of my favorites to target because they...

Hey Everybody! It's Captain Drew Nobregas aka Fishy Business with a saucy Islamorada Fishing Report! I have been on the water just about every day chasing a plethora of species and its safe to say there is still some truly great fishing going on as we make our way closer to the Fall.

Captain Rich Burson and I had a group trip with some repeat clients of ours this week. Captain Rich went after bonefish, tarpon, and permit, while I targeted the snook, tripletail, and redfish in Flamingo. Captain R...

Hey everybody! This is Captain Drew Nobregas aka Fishy Business with a very, juicy, Islamorada Fishing Report I can't wait to unveil! Lets start with the offshore fishing on the Atlantic side of the island.

The mahi bite has still been going strong with several fish in the 5-10lb range being caught, as well as a handful of really big ones we like to call "Slammers" in the 20lb class and above. Most fish are cruising around what we like to call the Humps where debris and birds like to stack up. Ca...

Hey everyone, welcome to another juicy report with yours truly! I am overjoyed to express how amazing the mangrove and yellowtail snapper bite has been on the reef! it has been an all out blitz with non-stop action the whole family can enjoy! This is the perfect time of year while the kids are out of school to take a vacation to the Florida Keys, and book a fishing charter for an epic time you will never forget. Most all of the families that I fish take their fresh catch over to Lazy Days for so...

I can't express to you how exciting of a year June can be for tarpon. We're just starting to get in that phase where the fish tend to be smaller and have more willingness to eat an artificial. Common size tarpon around now are anywhere from 10-80 pounds and seem to be much more acrobatic than those 100+lb bruisers that just wear you down to your core after fighting them.

There's nothing like sneaking up on a pod of happy tarpon willing to explode on a surface lure, but accuracy is everything at t...

Anyone who has fished with me knows my love for snook. Especially a jumbo! Very few fish are to admire as much as a snook. These bass-like creatures are also referred to as linesiders in Florida or robalo in the Central and South American countries. Known for their blistering runs, viscous topwater headshakes, or aggression to devour a soft plastic lure or plug can have an angler hooked on the first thump. I love them so much I don't keep them, although from 28-32 inches they're legal to keep!.....

What's goin' on Fishy People! Captain Drew here again, with yet another, juicy, fishing report!

The speckled Seatrout bite has stayed RED HOT for several weeks now. Ever since the water started warming up, we've consistently seen fish from the 15-25 inch range with some fish EVEN BIGGER! A fish over 20 inches is considered a gator trout and there has been plenty of those big girls lurking around as well! In between it's nice to see that no cast is a dull one with all the catfish tugging, lady fis...

Thursday, April 4, 2019

in the last several weeks, as long as the weather has been cooperative the tarpon have followed suit. People wonder why we chase these magnificent beasts... It is because they are so elusive but attainable. A cat and mouse game that keeps you scratching your head in disbelief, or a humbling experience filled with admiration for a fish with such power. As long as you're willing to be flexible due to the limited times that they like to feed, I can put you on the silver king of your dreams.

When boo...
